Long before fish appeared, these predatory creatures were the terror of the seas! Ammonites were cephalopods (predatory marine mollusks) similar to today’s Squid, Octopus and chambered Nautilus. Their existence on Earth lasted for 330 million years, and they came in many different shapes and sizes — some have been found up to 6 feet in diameter. They were active, intelligent predators that could move quickly through the water using a type of jet propulsion. They were named "Ammon's Stones" due to their resemblance to the ram’s horns of Ammon, the ancient Egyptian God of life and procreation. Their hard, multi-chambered outer shells are now found as fossils all over the world, and are treasured for their beautiful and timeless design.
Our Ammonites are from various ages and parts of the world. Now you can own the remains of a creature that is over 360 million years old!
